There have been a number of games released in the Ghostbusters universe, ranging from video games to board games. The earliest game associated with the Ghostbusters franchise was the Activision version of Ghostbusters, written by David Crane while the movie was still in development. It was released in 1984 or 1985 depending on platform, and was widely criticized for its impossible game play and poor spelling.
Activision: Atari 2600, Nintendo, Sega Master System
In 1986, West End Games created a Ghostbusters role playing game on a brand new platform for gaming. The game incorporated a variety of rules, and gameplay was enhanced through add-on books. For the 1989 Ghostbusters 2 release, the game was re-issued as Ghostbusters International with another series of gameplay books. The series went out of print in 1998.

Ghostbusters International: Pumpkin Patch Panic, Lurid Tales of Doom, ApoKERMIS Now!, Ghostbusters 2: The Adventure, & Tobin's Spirit Guide.
GURPS Ghost-Breakers
To avoid copyright infringement, but still do some Ghostbusters related RPG material for the GURPS system, Steve Jackson Games did a chapter called "Ghost-Breaking" in their book "GURPS All-star Jam 2004" which is still in print (//www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/allstarjam2004/) and contains a lot of good information for playing a Ghostbusters game with the GURPS rule set. The free "lite" version of their rules are available on their site for folks who don't want to shell out for the hard copy books. (//www.sjgames.com/gurps/lite/)
The rules were written by Kenneth Hite who also wrote their "Horror" game world book and is also a big "Call of Cthulu" gamer.
